Day 14

Halls Creek to Emma Gorge

sunny 33 °C

Left Halls Creek at 8 AM and headed for Kununurra and Emma Gorge. Emma Gorge is part of El Questro, a well regarded tourist facility and private national national Park. It is 65KM west of Kununurra, off the Gibb River Road.

The drive was very interesting with an ever changing landscape, and flora. The Boab trees are plentiful, in pockets, not at all random. Most along here seemed to be in or adjacent to dry water courses.

Warnum (Turkey Creek) is a typical aboriginal community, and Doon Doon seemed to be just a roadhouse. I have a receipt from the Doon Doon roadhouse which I intend framing, it shows the price of diesel as $2.19, yep $2.19/liter.

There was a mix up with the bookings for Emma Gorge so we stayed only one night there and moved into Kununurra Lakeside Resort, which is wonderful, and it is on the lakes side.
